A 4-star-plus hotel opened in 2008 and popular with British guests. Its 4-star sister hotel The Kalithea Mare Palace shares the grounds and while Horizon Royal guests can use the Mare’s facilities, it is not reciprocal.
Despite having a mini bus to transport guests around the steep grounds, it is still not ideally situated to those with walking difficulties and is more ideal for the family market with its impressive amount of children’s play areas and activities on offer.
Although an All Inclusive property, the Manager prides himself on offering more extravagant food options away from the norm such as, Wild Boar and Ostrich and even has a sign stating “Guest is King” is on the office door!
Built on the cape and into the cliff face, numerous, tidy, 2 & 3 storey blocks spread along the hillside, painted in mustard and white with natural stone bases featuring pillars and semi circular sections that add some character and break the monotony.
Balconies are generously sized with many offering impressive sea-views towards the springs or to Rhodes town in the distance.

The main reception with pink and white panels features marble floors, fresh flowers and brown chunky leather sofas. This serves both hotels and there is a smaller reception located to the side with more formal furnishings and gold ornaments exclusively for Horizon Royal guests.
The main restaurant is bright and welcoming rather than intimate, with upholstered chairs and feature a central blue painted dome reminiscent of the sky or sea, bright yellow walls with seaside orientated paintings and fresh flowers on the tables.
There is a games room with table tennis, air hockey, table football and arcade games. An indoor pool that opens up to the outdoor pool area hosts the main pool bar, which removes privacy for guests who wish to swim here.
The grounds are spacious with large maps on boards indicating where you are, with all areas well signposted.
The natural pine forest at the top of the cape, close to the main building offers welcome areas of shade and various children’s playgrounds are located throughout with numerous types of apparatus.
Lush lawns with some flowering bushes feature large balls of rocks in iron frames and are interspersed by neat pathways and stone walls with themed litter bins using various creatures such as dolphins and Hippo’s (presumably to encourage children not to litter !) Pathways close to the pool areas thoughtfully have a non-slip felt surface on them.
The pool area hosts 3 pools on different levels with water cascading from one into the other. Sun-loungers are wooden and padded, Various terraces offer a mixture of wicker and rattan furnishings.
At the bottom of the cape there are 2 crystal clear sandy coves and a beach bar.
Area Type: Perched on the Cape just off the main coastal road, located only 1km from the quiet resort of Kalithea where the closest choice of tavernas and small shops are situated, the hotel is 800m from the medicinal springs. The centres of Rhodes Town or Faliraki are both 6km away in opposite directions and can be reached by the regular local bus service that stops outside the hotel.
Nearest beach: Immediate (Kalithea)
