Hotel Admiral, Sorrento Italy
★ ★ ★
Uniquely situated right on the seafront in a little fishing village with uninterrupted sea views. Pool has a small pool and impressive outlook, whilst interior areas are ordinary. A few minutes’ walk leads to a jetty with sunbeds for those wanting to swim in the sea. Quite a slog uphill to the historic centre or main shopping street above but the local bus service is handy.
Couples and individuals wanting a peaceful, traditional seafront setting away from the crowds in the centre.
Hotel Admiral in Sorrento is at the rocky seafront, at the base of a steep cliff to the edge of the historic centre, in the fishing harbour village at Marina Grande. The nearest amenities are in the town centre, a 15-minute walk uphill. Looks right out to sea and Mount Vesuvius. Seafront restaurants, cafes and a few shops are 50 metres away. Bus stop is 150 metres.
There is a narrow stretch of dark sand beach and wood-decked jetties with chargeable sunbeds and parasols. A section of public beach does not charge an entry fee.
A wood-deck terrace juts out to sea to the rear and has a 7-metre rectangular pool in a tiled surround with the building on three sides. Chairs and tables are laid out on the terrace and lines of deck chairs are arranged near the pool.
