A centrally located authentic riad that enjoys the calm and tranquillity associated with these tastefully restored properties. The intimate and charm filled atmosphere may become rather cluttered when the property is full but it should please those who are seeking a typical Moroccan villa like base with easy access to many of the main sights and attractions.
The plain deep pink and sturdy walls with a couple of tiny windows stretch high over the street and entry is through a heavy solid looking door with metal trim.
Property type: Hotel
Balcony/Terrace: Some rooms
Built Year: 2006
A palace like interior focuses on an ornate courtyard with typical Berber furnishings, ceramic tiles and ornately decorated arches. Narrow staircases lead to the accommodation and roof terrace whilst meals are taken in any location preferred by the guest, usually in one of the dark narrow lounges or on the roof.
A spacious roof terrace has ornate canopies and tables for serving breakfast. There area few sunloungers and colourful textiles on the seats from which to view the Koutoubia Mosque and Atlas Mountains beyond. The ground floor courtyard is particularly inviting and elegant with its small pool and attractive tiling. The sizeable pool however, has little on its narrow surround for relaxation and appears to be more ornamental than for swimming.
Area Type: In a narrow alley to the W of the Medina, near the city walls and 100 yds from the Koutoubia Mosque. There are a few local shops 80 yds away at the end of the street and a wider variety, with a host of restaurants and snack bars near to the Jemaa el Fna, 250 yds away, with its juice stalls and evening eateries. Taxis and horse drawn carriages are available within 150 yds.
