A quality oriented designer property with attention to detail and individual style. Partly owned by the Branson family and British managed, with many thoughtful and practical features in addition to simple architectural authenticity.
Property is easy to navigate with handrails on the stairs and some plate glass windows. A large club like bar and theatre restaurant also make this a quality, upmarket, user friendly establishment which attracts guests of all ages.
Pool area is particularly attractive, although the vegetation in the courtyards can appear a little overgrown. Some suites come with a private pool.
Organic ingredients for the restaurant are grown in a special garden in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.
A set of flat sided interlinking buildings has a discreet, sturdy looking off street entrance. Two courtyards monopolise the inside, with connecting passages, tall wooden doors and lush vegetation.
Wide stairs with handrails connect the two floors and the roof terrace from which there are splendid views over the rooftops towards the Koutoubia Mosque and the distant Atlas Mountains.
Property type: Hotel
Built Year: 2004
Opulent, tastefully designed interior is an architect’s paradise with a cool and inspiring ambience throughout, although decor and furnishings are not over fussy. Main courtyard has much lush vegetation and a long restaurant has well spaced tables and a partitioning. Bar is distinctly British, with its tall stools, well stocked shelves and dark wood furnishings.
A small stage, sometimes with a grand piano, is set back, forming a mini theatre effect with rich flowing curtains and arches. Sumptuous but uncluttered lounges feature a fusion of English and Moroccan designs. A well stocked library, DVD screening room and a charming hammam facility complete the scene.
Two courtyards contrast in appearance, with one monopolised by lush vegetation and a fountain. Second one is more majestic and peaceful with well tended shrubs and comfortable seating.
A long, narrow pool is located in a small garden with a good supply of luxurious sunloungers. Rooftop terrace has another tiny pool and three sunbathing areas as well as a good supply of tables for alfresco dining.
Area Type: On the western edge of the ancient medina, with relatively easy access to taxis, 20m from the entrance. On a narrow pedestrian street, with a few local shops 50m away and a wider selection towards the souks, 200m away. Jemma el Fna, with its storytellers, juice stalls and variety of evening food stalls is just over 400m to the south east.
