Vila Recife, Albufeira Portugal
★ ★ ★
A centrally located and authentic offering, with somewhat limited facilities in a rather disjointed layout. Attracts many guests preferring to avoid the more modern mass-market options.
The communal areas are looking a little worn and the conservatory style extension at the front of the main building is hardly in keeping with the traditional style of the entrance and relatively ornate entrance area.
An appealing traditional building dating from 1950 and 1986 with a gaudy looking glass sided construction along one side of the front garden. Large gates provide a welcoming first impression and some rooms have a tiny metal railed balcony.

A 3rd floor reception area serves its purpose but offers little space for waiting. A conservatory style breakfast room is well laid out with comfortable seating and a small buffet are. A plain and simple bar is supported by a small TV area.
A compact garden is located at the rear of the building. A narrow, paved terrace is in the shadow of mature palm trees and the small pool is hardly large enough for the number of rooms on offer. Colourful shrubs and wicker chairs add style to the front garden where many guests find themselves waiting for a taxi.
Area Type: In the old town centre, with plenty of tourist amenities in the surrounding area and a good supply of restaurants and alfresco dining options down the hill in a pedestrian shopping street. The vicinity becomes rather busy as the day proceeds thanks to the arrival of many day-trippers from the surrounding resorts. Parking may be a problem at weekend and in the peak season. Bus stop 200m.
