A holiday to Tunisia will provide a superb relaxed break, with miles of pristine beaches and history and culture to satisfy the most discerning tastes. Tunisia is not the place to go for lively nightlife, with most evening entertainment centred around hotels, although in the busier towns there are a wide selection of restaurants and cafes.

Resorts and Beaches

All the resorts in Tunisia have magnificent golden white sands, gently shelving into the Mediterranean. Skanes is a modern resort, perfect for a relaxing holiday. Hammamet is a mixture of the old and new with the medina and souk’s of the old town and the modern self contained resort of Yasmine Hammamet close by. This is a great area for watersports.

Port El Kantaoui is Tunisia’s answer to the great marinas of the med, drawing the yachting crowd with its café’s, restaurants and shops. Sousse is a bustling, colourful old town with a modern resort grown up around the historic centre, which has its famous medina, 8th century monastery and 9th century Great Mosque.
History and Culture

Tunisia is an Arab country with a Mediterranean feel, in part due to 100 years of French colonial rule. It has all the mystery of a typical North African country and borders the great Sahara desert.

Ancient Sousse dates back to Byzantine foundations, with a number of highlights including the great ramparts of the walled medina, the monastery, the Great Mosque and the Grand Ribat. Carthage is one of the real treats in Tunisia, founded by the Phoenicians more than 2500 years ago, it grew in prominence under Roman rule and became the second largest city in the Roman empire. The ruins of this Roman time can still be seen there in bathouses, villas and theatres.

Tunisia is not the place to go for lively nightlife, but there is still so much to do and see. If its culture and ancient civilizations that fire your interest take a trip to Carthage for the Roman ruins or Sousse for its magnificent stone structures and to spend some time haggling with the shopkeepers in the Souk. Or for something a bit more futuristic, Matama is the place that Star Wars was filmed!

An excursion to the Sahara could take in a trip to the Salt Lake at Chott El Djerid or the Oasis at Tozeur. Tunisia is also a great destination for watersports enthusiasts with most resorts offering a selection of activities.

Overall, a holiday to Tunisia provides a great opportunity to relax on sun kissed beaches, whilst at the same time being able to visit some fantastic ancient monuments and bathe in the history of past civilizations.
