Mahdia Holidays – Cheap, Family & All Inclusive Holidays in Mahdia
Travel Monster Mahdia holidays are laid back escapes on the Tunisian coast. There is lots to do and see here during the Summer but do be warned that everything closes in Autumn and Winter so this is strictly a Summer sun destination. There is a population of 37,000 in the major fishing town which looks out to Monastir to the south and Sousse to the south east. Summers here are usually hot and balmy on holidays in Mahdia, especially in the months of July and August.
- A Fishing Village
Mahdia family holidays are not necessarily tourist orientated. The town makes most of its money from fishing and you can see fishermen catching tuna fish out at sea at night by lamplight. This really is a stunning sight to behold on cheap Mahdia holidays.
- Souvenir Ideas
There is a great souk in the centre of town on cheap holidays to Mahdia giving you a unique insight into Tunisian way of life. Here you will see locally made crafts and souvenirs for sale as well as more interesting things such as ornately decorated Tunisian wedding dresses. You may also see some live animals for sale though it is not advisable to buy any on family holidays in Mahdia.
There also other historic sights to see on all inclusive Mahdia holidays such as the nearby shipwreck. The shipwreck has been here since 1907 and many of its artefacts are now at home in the Musee National Du Bardo in Tunis. If you visit the museum on your all inclusive holidays in Mahdia you will find that most of the cargo was Greek works of art including magnificent marble columns which were being shipped over to Roman buyers at the time of the wreck.
