Skyline Hotel, New York, USA
★ ★ ★
A slightly off-centre motel style property that presents a classic case of not judging a book by its cover. Once inside, the decor and furnishings are congenial and welcoming.
A friendly and welcoming attitude prevails at the small reception desk. Parking is available in an adjacent garage, and a bar and restaurant are operated under separate ownership and management.
Americans arriving by car as well as many Europeans.
Located 800m to the northwest of Times Square, to the west of Midtown, in an up and coming area that was previously rarely frequented by tourists. Many local shops and eateries along 10th Avenue that serve the local population who reside in the surrounding, less salubrious, apartment buildings. 50th Street subway station is 600m to the east.
Times Square and the Broadway theatres are 700m to the east whilst the Lincoln Center is 800m to the north. The Port Authority bus terminus is 500m to the southeast with the Rockefeller center 600m further.
Indoor pool onsite.
